Moving away

Since my last post I have moved out of Seattle and to Breckenridge, Colorado. Randomly spontaneous? I would say so! The move was out of no where, and now a month and half later, I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Living on your own in a different state is different than living on your own at college. When you live "on your own" in a dorm, you're surrounded by people and your parents are still paying for basically everything. When you actually live on your own in a house with other kids your age, you pay for all your own food and transportation, as well as little things you need here and there. No more calling mom from school and asking her to put $50 on your card so you can go shopping with your dorm mates. This has definitely been a wake up call as to what the real world is going to bring for me in the near future, and I think this has been a really eye-opening experience that I will look back on for years.

I am starting to focus on living a better life, and with that is going to come happiness and wellbeing. I need to eat healthier and exercise daily on top of keeping in touch with the people that matter most in my life. Without all the people from my past I would not have had the guts to make this move, and I wouldn't have the social skills to start a life for myself with no foundation at all. Setting some goals for myself is going to be step number one in this new, and better, life.

1) Call relatives at least once a week [this doesn't include Mom, Dad, or Michael]
2) Ride my bike more [living at 10,000 feet makes any somewhat strenuous activity really difficult]
3) Yoga on the daily [this is going to help me clear my mind and focus on bettering my body]
4) Don't start arguments with anybody [this isn't a big problem for me, but might as well throw it out there]
5) Journal and blog whenever the chance is presented [expressing myself in these two ways makes me feel as if I'm getting things off my chest and make for a better day]
6) Try to make friends here [I should probably stop walking around with my iPod in my ears all the time.. I've passed lots of people around my age that seem friendly and smile but I'm too caught up in my music to say anything]

Thats a good start! I'm going to execute a few of those things right now by posting this and doing some yoga tonight.

And on that note, here are some of the pictures taken in my first few weeks of living in Colorful Colorado!
